Ankur Varma, LCPC, is the founder of Culturoots Counseling & Consulting. For more than a decade, he has worked with adults, teens, couples, and families across community mental health, private practice, education, and clinical leadership in Chicago. That range matters to him because people rarely arrive with just one thing going on. Culture, relationships, work, health, and history tend to show up together.

Ankur works especially with ADHD, anxiety, mood challenges, trauma, men's health, cultural identity, and the pressure that can come from carrying multiple roles or expectations. His approach is evidence-based and integrative, drawing connections between emotional, cognitive, and physical health while keeping the work practical and grounded in real life.

Therapy with Ankur is collaborative. He takes time to build trust, name clear goals, and find useful ways to notice progress. He is direct without being rigid and often uses humor when it helps make difficult conversations feel more human.

Alongside his clinical work, Ankur has supervised and trained therapists, built programs and care systems, and spoken with community and workplace groups about culturally responsive mental health. These experiences continue to shape how he thinks about good therapy: it should be thoughtful, accountable, and flexible enough to fit the person in front of him.

Ankur also co-founded Brown Man Therapy, a nonprofit organization focused on normalizing dialogue and advocating for action around South Asian men's mental health through education, events, and community-building.

Outside of the therapy room, Ankur is usually cooking, traveling with his family, or watching soccer. Ankur is of Indian heritage and has made Chicago home after growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio.
